Automatically add today's date to Outlook emails

If you often include today’s date in your Outlook emails, you can save time by adding it to your template just once. The date will automatically update each time you use the email template. The video below shows the full process from start to finish.

And here’s a quick summary of the main steps:

    1. Choose where to insert the date.

Start creating or editing your message template. In the template text, click where you want today’s date to appear. If your template already has a placeholder for the date, select it instead.

    2. Insert the dynamic date.

Click the Insert macro button on the template editor toolbar. In the list of available macros, double-click Insert date. Use the search box to find it faster.

    3. Choose the date format and language.

When the Date dialog opens, select your preferred date format and language. Use the preview to check how the date will look in your emails. Then click OK.

    4. Save the template.

After the macro is added to your template, save the changes.

From now on, whenever you insert this template into an email, the current date will automatically appear in the message body.
